Zion’s Melody of Columbus Ohio is a four member ministry that shares the gospel of Jesus Christ through song. This ministry was a vision sent by God to William (Butch) Monroe in April of 1998.
Butch informed his wife Lois of what God had revealed to him regarding a singing ministry. The two of them were members of the Lyric Supremes at the time, but still pursued their own ministry as a duet.
Over the next 3 three years butch and Lois performed together. Butch received a word from the Lord directing him to form a group with more members. Previously Butch had sang and played with other groups such as the The Five Stars, and the Capitalaires. He later went on the road and played professionally for the Fantastic Violinaires, Detroit Michigan and Slim & The Supreme Angels, Milwaukee Wisconsin. After leaving the road Butch returned to Columbus where he played for the Columbus Gospel Clouds of Joy.
Butch reconnected with then missionary Brenda Hodge, formerly of ”The Gospel Helpers”. He asked if she would be interested in singing with the group. Brenda graciously agreed. He also invited Minister Melissa Jacobs into the group and she agreed also.
The birth of Zion’s Melody ( As a full group ) was formed in February of 2001. Our coming out service was held on the 4th Sunday in March 2001 ,and it is celebrated annually.
In February of 2001 the group released their first CD entitled “ He Will Deliver”, in March of 2003. Their second CD which was a four song CD was released entitled “ What If It Were Today” followed by “God Has A Blessing” in November of 2006.
That was ten years ago this past March, and the Lord has brought us through many trials and tribulations, but we are still holding on and lifting up the name of Jesus.

William “Butch” Monroe
Minister William “Butch” Monroe
fondly known as Butch, was born in Wytheville Va. He moved to Columbus at the age of two where he grew up in a family of musicians… his Mom, aunts and uncles all played several different instruments. It was at the tender age of three he learned to love music; he learned to play the drums at age five and later he received his first guitar from his Dad and learned to play that as well.
As time went on Butch started playing the bass guitar at age 11 and joined his first gospel group, The Capitolaires. He was trained by Wallace and Clarence Fowler, they were very strict, and did not allow him to play any kind of way. He admired them because they taught him to be a disciplined musician, to understand the difference in the correct and incorrect way to play gospel music. Butch later went out on the road and played professionally with two major groups, The Fantastic Violinaires of Detroit Michigan, and “Slim and the Supreme Angels of Milwaukee Wisconsin.
At present Butch is the only musician for his own gospel group, Zion's Melody, which has been together for 10 years. He hopes to receive more disciplined musicians through God.
Through the vision that God gave him he has written, rearranged, and recorded songs for this ministry for the past 10 years. He hopes to continue ministering through the music that God gifted him with, and to stay humble and focused on the Lord Jesus Christ in all that he does.

Later on in life, she joined a gospel group in Columbus, Ohio known as The Lyric Supremes. She was a member of the Lyrics for 22 years. In 1998 when God gave her husband (Butch) the vision for Zion's Melody, they started out as a duet, all while Lois continued singing with the Lyric Supremes.
In 2001, God gave Butch the vision to add more members to Zion's Melody; she prayed and asked God to show her what she needed to do as far as leaving the music ministry of The Lyric Supremes…. God gave her the answer. She resigned from that ministry and moved forward in the ministry with her husband. Zion's Melody was then formed as a full gospel ministry. Zion’s Melody have been ministering for 10 years and have recorded three CDs, and are now in the studio recording their fourth.
To God be the Glory!!! Lois strives to continue to please God in every way possible, and wants to stay humble for the Lord.
